Undercover offers bed linen in two types of fabrics,  the new range in 100% Organic Cotton and the popular 50% TENCEL™ and 50% long staple cotton mix.

Both our TENCEL™ and Organic Cotton ranges have a thread count of 300. Remember that a high thread count number doesn't automatically equate higher quality. Read our perspective on thread count numbers here. 

Undercover is made at a family owned factory in the north of Portugal. The factory is Oeko-Tex standard 100 certified.

We combine 50% TENCEL™ with 50% long staple (high quality) cotton. After extensive testing, we felt that the combination of cotton and TENCEL™ delivered the best overall sleep experience. TENCEL™ on its own feels almost like silk and the cotton gives it a bit more structure and a more crisp hand feel, which is ideal for bedding.  For more information about TENCEL™, please see https://www.lenzing.com/products/tenceltm.

For our 100% Organic Cotton range we use exclusively GOTS certified Organic Cotton. For our TENCEL™-Cotton range, we use a very high quality, durable cotton that is really difficult to source in an organic standard unfortunately. 

Our most recent production runs have been OEKO-TEX certified to be free from harmful chemicals. TENCEL™ is generally a good choice for people with sensitive skin, although we can't guarantee that our products are allergen-free. It does feel very soft on the skin. 

The majority of dyes we use are not natural however they are environmentally friendly. There are some natural dye alternatives however these tend to have worse results in terms of colour fastness and the colour pallet of these is much more limited. Another problem is that to achieve darker colours with these natural dyes you'd need a lot of natural resources, hence this isn't really an option that makes sense at the moment. 

The majority of our products are now OEKO TEX certified meaning they contain no harmful chemicals. Our Organic Cotton range also uses dyes that are approved by the GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard).

Our manufacturers also hold many quality and environmental certificates including ISO14 1001 and OHSAS, along with governmental audits which ensure they are compliant with EU regulations. 

Organic Cotton range:

Machine wash up to 60°C and tumble dry normal. Don’t bleach and don’t dry clean. 

TENCEL™ - Cotton range:

Machine wash in warm water (up to 40°C) and tumble dry on low or medium. Iron on medium. Don’t bleach and don’t dry clean. 

Our fabric is woven to be resistant to wear and pilling. We recommend that you avoid harsh detergents with brighteners and never use bleach as these could damage the fabric. Make sure you don’t wash Undercover sheets at a high temperature.

Yes. That’s because we don’t add polyester or artificial anti-wrinkle treatments that damage the fabric. Wrinkles are not a sign of poor quality, they are an inherent feature of natural, good quality fabrics. You can iron your sheets with steam to remove wrinkles or and hang and line dry as soon as they've finished washing. Leaving sheets in the washing machine while damp or wet sets the creases.

Our Organic Cotton range is pre-washed for a relaxed and crinkly look and feel. We recommend leaving the sheets un-ironed.

Nope. Our products are dyed and manufactured to the highest standards and the duvet covers can be washed safely without colours bleeding. Just make sure you don't wash the TENCEL™ products above 40 degrees Celsius and don't use bleach.

For a USA Queen size bed, you can order a duvet cover in “Full/Queen” size (they’re the same) and a fitted sheet in 150x200cm (also labelled “UK King” or “USA Queen”). If you’re unsure, we recommend you measure your bedding and consult the size chart on each product page before placing an order.
